Bowsprit

The bowsprit is a necessary appendage to a fore-aft rigged sailing vessel. It is the principal spar that extends forward of the ship and from which all head sails are attached and flown. Klaraborg's bowsprit-jib boom was thirty -six feet long. From aloft, in the cross-trees, the view was something to behold. The tip of our bowsprit was painted white and had a "lucky" sharks tail attached to the tip. Pacific-1975.
